The person in the little house can be their family all gathered to celebrate the birth of a new family member. Even their father is there who will be returning home with them after having been working away for a long time. Which is why the mother takes out the goodies for later when they return. After a day of celebrating with the entire family they go home and the children are sent to bed and the father and mother sit romantically together (spied by the children) and enjoy the fathers favorite things together.
