Guys please help relationship problem?

Okay well i have been good freinds with this guy for 3 years now i like him alot so i put my self out their and told him and he told me he loves me alot has for a long time me and him have had and stuff and always shared i love u back and forth but he was like i dont wanna be with you right now cause we are bestfrans and are friedship means everything to me and i Love u and i dont think i could treat u right at this moment but i think we both should say single cause i cant stand u with another guy this was sevral mounths ago and he still anit ready to settle down with me he says we both should have fun with others people until then just not date no one but i am not sure why he keeps puting us off cause he loves me alot i mean he tells me all the time what can i do to get tru to him? and what do u thinks on his mind?
