Husband leaving the family?

My husband has been deployed for 12 mths. This is his last mth over there. He just decided that he didn't want to live with us and he will stay in a hotel for a while. He feels he is not happy with are situation. Should I let him see the kids? Im not sure if it is healthy. My kids adore him they cried for 2 days when he first left. He told them they can sleep with him when he gets home and do lots of things together. But they will ask Questions like why isn't daddy sleeping here at home? Or Why doesn't he live with us. I don't want to go through that my kids will be so disappointed to have him home and not really be a family. I don't know what to do, I really don't want to stop him from seeing the kids. But I don't want to deal with the heartache they will have.
